Why are you changing your name?
As we've added additional functionality, such as Access Controls, Document Management, Mobile support, and now our new Legal Edition, we've gone well beyond traditional wiki functionality. As a result, the name "PBwiki" no longer reflected how we think of ourselves, and even more importantly, how our users think of us.
What does the name PBworks mean?
When David Weekly founded PBwiki, "PB" stood for "peanut butter," as in "as easy to create as a peanut butter sandwich." While our workspaces are still easy to create, we realize that ease-of-use is only half the solution--we also need to give you the means to work more efficiently. PBworks reflects how people actually use our products: As a way to work together more efficiently, effectively, and productively. PBworks also captures the ease-of-use that has always been our hallmark... "it just works!"
What will happen to my PBwiki?
Your workspace will remain exactly the same - with the same features and login information. The URL to your workspace will automatically redirect from usermanual.pbwiki.com to usermanual.pbworks.com
Will my PBwiki URL (example: usermanual.pbwiki.com) still work? For how long?
Yes, it will always work. When you log into usermanual.pbwiki.com, you will automatically be transferred to usermanual.pbworks.com
Does this change my login information?
No, your login username and password will remain the same. You do NOT have to create a new username to log into your workspace.
Where can I log in?
You can log into your workspace several ways:
- my.pbworks.com (formerly my.pbwiki.com) - Log in here for access to all of your workspaces
- YOURWORKSPACE.pbworks.com (formerly yourworkspace.pbwiki.com) - Log in directly to your workspace
- PBworks.com (Formerly PBwiki.com) - Click log-in to access all of your workspaces
Can I still add new content to my PBwiki.com workspace?
Yes, there will be no changes in your workspace. You can edit, upload files and videos and embed tools in your PBworks workspace.
What's changing?
The URL for our website and all the workspaces created using PBwiki are changing. Instead of pbwiki.com, we can be found at PBworks.com. If you look for us at www.pbwiki.com, you will be automatically redirected to www.pbworks.com.
In the near future, you'll see more specialized products like the PBworks Legal Edition that offer unique functionality to meet your specific needs. While wiki technology is a core foundation for PBworks, it's only part of the solution. Our goal is to give you ways to solve your collaboration problems, regardless of the underlying technology.
What's not changing?
Your free, basic workspace will remain exactly the same - the same features at the same price.
If I have a PBwiki account, do I need a new account with PBworks?
No. You can continue to login with your PBwiki username and password.
If I have a PBwiki, will I lose my site?
Heck NO!
What will happen to my Google listing?
If your PBwiki was public, your PageRank and search-engine rankings should be transferred to your new pbworks.com URL. We've used 301 redirects to indicate to all search engines that the content has "permanently moved" to the new pbworks.com location and can be found there. It may take a few days or weeks for the change to take effect - be patient, it will happen!
Workspaces using custom domains should see no change.
